OSHA Walkaround Rule Update | Axley Attorneys WisconsinJoin us for our August Chapter Meeting featuring Amy Wilson, CIH, Compliance Assistance Specialist from the Orlando OSHA Area Office. Amy will provide an OSHA update, including insights into OSHA’s new Safety Champions Program.

The Safety Champions Program is designed to help employers develop and implement effective safety and health programs with the goal of preventing workplace injuries, illnesses, and fatalities. Participants may also request a Safety Champion Special Government Employee (SGE) to assess their programs and evaluate progress. These SGEs serve as mentors to participating companies and their leadership teams, and OSHA is actively seeking experienced safety professionals to serve in this role. Amy will share how organizations can join the program and how individuals can become SGEs.

Amy is a Certified Industrial Hygienist with a Master of Public Health and nearly 30 years of experience in safety and health. She began her career in the pharmaceutical industry before joining OSHA in 2000 as a Compliance Officer in the Manhattan Area Office. After seven years conducting field inspections in New York City, she transitioned to the Regional Office as an Industrial Hygienist in Enforcement Programs, where she provided guidance on complex inspections and coordinated case reviews for significant and novel cases.

Her expertise includes general industrial hygiene, emergency response, HAZWOPER, Hazard Communication (GHS), and Process Safety Management. In 2022, Amy joined OSHA’s Orlando Area Office as a Compliance Assistance Specialist, where she delivers outreach and training and promotes participation in OSHA’s cooperative programs for employers and workers.
