Embry-Riddle Student Section Engages Members on Forklift Safety

The Embry-Riddle Student Section of the Central Florida Chapter has been holding monthly laboratory sessions. These sessions allow students to engage in fun and interactive activities while learning practical skills for an OSH professional. The topic of the November meeting was “Forklift Physics.” Students learned about the various hazards of forklift operation by driving a remote-controlled forklift through a course. The session covered center of gravity, center of balance, the stability triangle, and the concept of momentum. Case studies of forklift accidents were also covered to relate these concepts to the real world. Student Section President Alex Hall reports “The meeting was a BLAST!  Students really enjoyed the hands-on learning aspect and were fully engaged in this experiential learning on forklift safety.”
